Oyo and Rivers both have an e-affidavit portal on paper. Only one of them answered when we went looking in September 2026.
Oyo's portal
Oyo's system is comis.oyostatejudiciary.oy.gov.ng, an account-based platform. It is listed among Nigerian courts offering e-affidavits, and the Oyo State High Court specifically is named as one of the courts using this kind of system.
One detail worth knowing: the platform includes its own verification option for an affidavit once it is issued, useful if a bank or agency later asks you to prove the document is genuine.
Rivers' portal, and a caution
Rivers lists its e-affidavit system at rivcomis.riversstate.gov.ng. A 2020 report on the system described a simple flow: sign up, pick an affidavit type such as a name change or a date-of-birth correction, fill in the form, then upload a passport photograph and a signature.
That was 2020. When we checked the address in September 2026, it did not respond. That does not necessarily mean the service is gone. State portals move addresses, get rebuilt, or sit behind maintenance without much public notice.
Confirm the address loads for you before you build a plan around it. If it does not, contact the Rivers State High Court directly to ask how affidavits are handled now.
Why we are flagging this instead of guessing
It would be easy to describe Rivers' portal as if it definitely still works the way it did in 2020. We would rather tell you plainly what we found: a portal address that did not answer on the day we checked.
Reporting an inactive address as active would waste your time. Reporting it as gone, without confirming, could be just as wrong. The honest answer is: check first.
A name-change example, and where it fits
Rivers' 2020 description explicitly named "name change" as one example affidavit type on its portal. If that is what you need and the portal is working again, it should be one of the options once you register.
If it is not working, a change of name affidavit can still be prepared and filed through a vetted partner firm, using whichever route the state currently supports.
Common mistakes
- Assuming Rivers' portal is definitely dead. An unreachable address on one day is not proof of that; confirm with the court.
- Assuming Oyo and Rivers work the same way. Only Oyo's system responded when we checked, and only Oyo's includes a confirmed verification option.
- Skipping the verification step on Oyo. Use it once your affidavit is issued, especially if a bank or agency asks you to prove it is genuine.
