The Federal High Court will not show you a price list before you start an e-affidavit application. Here is how payment actually works, and one real figure to put it in context.
How payment works
Payment happens on portal.fhc.gov.ng, taken online, by Paystack or Remita. A Remita reference, often called an RRR, can be paid through any Remita channel, not only on the portal's own payment page.
This gives you some flexibility in how you settle the fee, even though the amount itself is fixed once it is generated for your application.
A worked cost example
One application reviewed in September 2026 came to ₦1,797. This is a single, real figure from a single affidavit, not a schedule covering every type the portal handles.
Treat it as a sense of scale, not a quote. Fees can vary by the kind of affidavit you are swearing, and they can change over time as the court updates its approved costs.
Why there is no fixed price list
The Federal High Court's practice direction on e-affidavits says the cost of each affidavit is as approved by the Chief Judge. That wording allows different affidavit types to carry different costs, set centrally rather than published as one flat number.
Our guide to the practice direction covers where this rule comes from in more detail.
What to check before you pay
Read the amount the portal shows you at the payment step itself, for your specific affidavit type. That figure, not this article or any other, is the one that applies to you.
If the amount looks unusually high or low compared with what you expected, pause and confirm you selected the right affidavit type before paying.
Screenshot or save the payment confirmation once it goes through. It is a useful record if you ever need to show that a specific application was paid for, separate from the affidavit document itself.
Why this matters more than it might seem
Once you pay, the transaction is final. Our guide to the query deadline and refund rule explains what happens if something goes wrong after payment, including why a mistake at this stage can mean paying again.
Common mistakes
- Assuming ₦1,797 is your fee. It was one example from one application, not a price list.
- Paying before confirming your affidavit type. Check the type is correct first, since payment is not refundable.
- Ignoring the Remita option. If Paystack is not convenient, a Remita reference may suit you better.
