Replacing a NIN slip has more than one price, depending on the route you choose. Here is what each one actually costs, and why the figures you see elsewhere might not match.

The standard reissue fee
A standard reissue currently costs ₦600. Our how-to guide covers the process itself, from reporting a loss to collecting the replacement.
This is the figure to expect for an ordinary, non-urgent replacement through NIMC's standard channel, rather than a booked or expedited service.
Why the fee looks different from older guides
NIMC revised several NIN-related fees on 2 May 2025, including this one. Older guides that have not been updated since then may still show a lower figure.
Check nimc.gov.ng/fees for the current amount rather than relying on an older source. A blog post, forum thread or old screenshot is not a substitute for NIMC's own published figure.
The VIP reissue route
NIMC also offers a VIP reissue service, at ₦3,500, for a faster replacement slip. Our comparison of slip types explains how this differs from the "premium" improved slip, which is a separate, self-print concept with its own unconfirmed fee.
Paying more for VIP reissue buys speed and a booked process, not a different or more valid slip. The end result is still the same kind of NIN record.
A free alternative worth knowing
Downloading a digital copy of your slip through NIMC's NINAuth app is free. If what you actually need is proof of your NIN rather than a fresh paper printout, this route avoids a fee entirely.
Keep in mind that a digital copy is not always accepted everywhere a paper slip is. Confirm with whoever is asking for it before you rely on this route alone.

Common mistakes
- Paying an outdated figure from an older guide. Confirm at nimc.gov.ng/fees first.
- Assuming VIP reissue and the premium improved slip are the same thing. They are not; our slip types guide explains the difference.
- Paying for a printout when a digital copy would do. NINAuth's download option is free.
- Choosing the fastest route without checking whether it is even accepted where you need it. Confirm the format an institution wants before you pay for speed.
- Not keeping a receipt for whichever route you pay for. A genuine fee should be traceable back to NIMC.
