Clicking submit on Rev360 feels like the hard part is over. It is not. That click is really the start of a review, not the end of one.
Here is what happens on the other side of the screen once a tax clearance certificate request goes in.
Submitting the request is the easy part
The Rev360 form itself, at selfservice.nrs.gov.ng, only asks for your Tax ID, the years you need and your contact details. There is nothing complicated about filling it in.
What takes time is everything the request triggers once it lands with the tax office handling your file. That review is where a clean file and a messy one start to look very different.
What the NRS checks before anything moves
The first thing checked is your filing history against the years the certificate has to cover. Returns filed and assessed, tax paid or confirmed as not due, and no unresolved balance sitting on the account.
If you moved over from TaxPro Max, this history should already be attached to your account, since TaxPro Max records moved to Rev360 automatically, with login details sent by email. It is still worth confirming your old filings show up correctly before you rely on them for a TCC request.
What a query or a returned request looks like
When the review finds a gap, the request does not vanish. It typically comes back with a note pointing to the specific problem, a missing return, an unpaid balance, or a mismatch between your Tax ID and your company record.
This is not the same as a rejection you cannot fix. It is closer to the tax office handing the file back and saying what needs sorting before it can move again, usually a missing return, an unpaid balance, or a Tax ID that does not match your CAC record.
What "issued" actually looks like
Once the review finds nothing wrong, the request moves toward issue rather than sitting in a queue indefinitely. The certificate itself lands wherever your Rev360 account delivers documents, and a filing service like Docufy adds its own copy with a verify link to what you receive.
There is no separate "in progress" bar to watch on the portal in the way a courier tracking page works. The realistic signal is either a query landing in your account, or the certificate itself appearing.
When to stop waiting and contact the tax office
If your file was genuinely clean when you applied, compare how long it has been against the statutory deadline for a TCC. Once that window has clearly passed with nothing back, contacting the tax office that holds your file is more useful than waiting further.
For the steps before you even reach submission, the online application guide covers what to prepare. You can start yours on the tax clearance certificate page, and our NRS tax hub has more on logging in and using Rev360.
