Questions

Change of Phone Number (NIN) in Kano, answered.

Can I get change of phone number (nin) in Kano without travelling to Kano?

Yes. You fill the form on your phone, upload your papers and pay online. A vetted partner firm files it, and your document lands in your vault. There is no office visit.

Is the process different in Kano?

No. Change of Phone Number (NIN) is a federal document, and the steps and price are the same wherever you are in Nigeria.

Why does NIMC want a police report to change my phone number?

NIMC changes a number when the old SIM was lost or mechanically damaged, and the police report plus a sworn affidavit are the evidence of that. The pair also makes it harder for anyone else to move a number onto your record.

What do I need at the police station?

Stations generally ask for a passport photograph and your signature on plain white paper, along with the details of the loss or damage. Take your NIN slip with you.

Can I change my email the same way?

This service covers the phone number on your record. If your email also needs updating, say so in the reason and the partner firm will tell you whether NIMC can take both in one request.
