Where payment sits in the application
Payment comes after you've filled in your application on the FRSC portal, nigeriadriverslicence.frsc.gov.ng, and before you book your capture appointment. Nothing moves forward until the government fee clears, whichever term or class you've chosen.
This is the same step whether you're renewing, replacing a lost licence, or applying for the first time. The application type changes what you fill in before this point. It doesn't change how you pay.
The channels FRSC accepts
FRSC accepts payment online by card, at a bank, by POS at the licence centre, or by NetPostPay eWallet. That's a wider range than some agencies offer, so pick whichever is most convenient and reliable where you are.
If you're not near a bank branch or a POS terminal, paying by card online is usually the simplest option, provided your card supports online transactions and you have a stable connection to complete it.
What NetPostPay eWallet is
NetPostPay eWallet is one of the payment channels on the list, alongside paying by card and paying at a bank. If you already use it for other government payments, it works the same way here: fund the wallet, then use it to settle the licence fee from the portal.
Why a channel may add its own charge
The FRSC fee itself is fixed, set by class and term. What isn't fixed is the small charge some banks, POS terminals or eWallets add for processing the transaction. Check the total shown before you confirm, so there's no surprise deduction between what you expected and what left your account.
This extra charge is set by the channel, not by FRSC, so it can differ from one payment method to another. Comparing the total across two channels before you commit can save you a small amount either way.
What to do once payment confirms
Keep your payment reference and receipt. You'll need them if a payment doesn't reflect immediately, or if you need to query your application later. Don't discard the confirmation message or email, even after your capture is done, until your card is fully issued.
Once payment shows as confirmed, you can go ahead and book your capture appointment. After that, the only step left before your card is produced is the one in-person capture visit. Everything up to that point runs from your phone.
If a payment doesn't reflect
Sometimes a payment leaves your account but doesn't show as confirmed on the portal straight away. Wait a short while before trying again, since a second payment for the same application can complicate things rather than fix them. If it still hasn't reflected after a reasonable wait, your reference number is what you'll need to query it.
