The improved NIN slip is a redesigned version you can print yourself instead of visiting a centre for a replacement. Here is the process, plus what NIMC has not confirmed about the price.

What the improved slip is for
The improved slip carries a redesigned layout, produced on plain A4 paper, front and back. It is meant to replace a worn or outdated printout, or to give you a second copy without going through a full reissue.
It draws on your existing NIMC record rather than creating a new one, so nothing about your underlying details changes just because the printout looks different.
What you need before you print
- Your NIN, to look up your record.
- Access to a printer: NIMC's guide calls for printing on plain A4 paper, front and back.
- A way to pay online, for the payment step described below.
Having these ready before you start avoids stopping partway through, especially if the payment step times out and you need to begin again.
The steps to print it yourself
- Go to NIMC's self-service printing guide and find the improved slip option.
- Enter your NIN and the details NIMC asks for to locate your record.
- Complete the Remita payment step the guide describes.
- Print the result on plain paper, both sides, exactly as NIMC's guide sets out.
Check the printout against your details before you rely on it anywhere. A faint or partial print is worth redoing rather than accepting as good enough.
The payment step NIMC has not published a fixed price for
NIMC's own guide says printing is paid through Remita, but we could not confirm the current amount on the sources we checked. Check nimc.gov.ng/fees before you start, and treat any figure quoted elsewhere with caution until you see it on the actual payment screen.

If printing fails or looks wrong
A blank or garbled printout is usually a printer or file issue rather than a problem with your record. Try a different printer or device before assuming something is wrong with your NIN itself.
A public printing shop is a reasonable fallback if your own printer is unreliable, provided you are comfortable handling your details there.
If the record it pulls up shows the wrong details, that is a modification question, not a printing one. Printing again will not fix information that was wrong to begin with.
Common mistakes
- Assuming the printout is free. NIMC's guide describes a Remita payment step; confirm the amount before you start.
- Printing on the wrong paper, or one side only. Follow NIMC's format exactly.
- Giving up after one failed attempt. Try another device or printer before assuming your record is the problem.
- Overlooking the free digital option. Not every situation needs a paper printout at all.
